At least 22 people have been killed in fighting between young Algerians, of Arab and Amazique origins. Algerian news agency reported that stores, homes and vehicles were set ablaze in the fighting. Algerian president Abdelaziz Boutefika has convene an emergency meeting of top leaders including the country's army chief of staff. Dozens of other people were reported to had hurt in the clashes. The country's Interior minister Nouredine Bedali travelled to the region where the clashes occured as anti-riot policemen where dispatch to the area. "Most of the victims died after being struck in the head by projectiles", The Himalayan reported citing unnamed persons.
