The airstrikes came in response to  a major rebel offensive that has been on going in Southern Syria. " As usual, the regime is striking populated areas in order to make civilian supporters of opposition fighters turn against them" Remai Abdel Rahman said. " oppisition fighters are making steady progress in Darau province. The vast majority of the west of the province was completely fallen out of government control, and that is where Jessem is located", Abdel Rahman said.
