Turkey government gives approval for construction of first church since 1823

        Turkey's Islamic government has authorised the building of the first church in the country since 1923. According to Associated France Press, the church will serve Turkey's Syria community, which has between 15 - 20,000 members. It will be built in the Istanbul suburb of  Yesikoy, where churches are already open to Greek orthodx, catholic and Arnemian communities. Turkey government source said " It is the first since the creation of Turkey republic" He said " churches have been restored ad opened to the public, but no new church has been built until now".
