At least 59 militants affiliated to the Isamic State have been killed in raids by Egyptian security forces in different parts of desert region of North Sinai. Seven government troops where also killed in the fighting, Egypt's army spokesman, Brigadier General Mohamed Samir said. The army was reported to have launched the assault on Saturday in an effort to flush out militants in the country who has killed more than 100 soldiers in recent months. The Islamic States affiliated militant group claimed its fighters attacked several check points and security installations on Saturday in North Sinai. India based news website, Hinustan Times citing Egypt's army spokesman as saying that the army targeted militants headquarters, killing 20 in Gabal Alika area in Shiekh Zwayied.
