Incumbent president Pierre Nkurunziza wins presidential election in Burundi.

The incumbent president of Burundi Pierre Nkurunziza has won the country's presidential election. Mr Nkurunziza candidacy was considered as unconstitutional by the opposition because the country's constitution allows two term only. Mr Nkurunziza won the election with 69.41 percent of vote casted. The election took place on Tuesday despite African Union and western powers call for delay in the election as a result of the violence that rock the country since mr Nkirunziza made his intention known to run for third term. African Union vowed not to recognised the election as the opposition refused to take part in the election. A section of the country's army seized power from the president when he was out of the country to attend regional summit but the coup failed because a large section loyalists of the army did not support the coup.
