Iranian foreign ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham will be appionted as an ambassador. If she is appionted, she will be the first and so far the only Iranian female ambassador abroad since the 1979 Iraian Revolution, Reuters news agency reported citing semi official Fars and Mehr news agencies. Afkham,52, is to become the second female amvassador in Iran and the first since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. The only other female ambadsador was Mehrangiz Dolatshahi, who served in Denmark in the 1970s.
