Islamic State releases more than 200 captive Yazidis in Iraq.


    More than 200 Yazisdis captured by Islamic State last year has been released. They were set free on Wednesday by Islamic State. General Hiwa Abdullah, a Peshmerga commader in the northern Iraq city of Kirkuk, said most of those released were women and children, the rest were ill or ederly. It is the second time that Islamic State had released a group of Yazidis to Kurdish forces in recent months. No reason was given for the release of the prisoners who were originally abducted from the area around Sinjar in northern Iraq. Ten of thousands of Yazidis minority fledin August last year when Islamic Statw captured the town of Sinjar.
