She died in a nursing home in Osaka, the city she was born in on 5 march, 1897, BBC reoorted. She was recognized by Guiness as the oldest living woman in February 2013 at 114. Okawa, the daughter of a KImono maker, said at a birthday celebration in March that her life seemed rather short. According to the hindu.com, Okawa married her husband, Yukio in 1919, and they had three childern.
