Pakistan fighter jets pounds tribal region, 34 militants killed.

      Pakistani airstrikes pounded militants positions in a tribal region near Afghanistan border killing 34 terrorists, Pakistani army said Wednesday. The airstrikes occured just days Taliban attacked christian churches in Lahore that killed 17 christian worshippers, Dw reported. The jets pounded positions in the Tirah valley in the Khyber region, west of the city of Peshawar, in " precise strikes", the military said in a statement. Militants have fled to various tribal regions including the Tirah valley that borders Afghanistan, where they operates on both sides of the border. The Taliban and its allies have been waging an insurgency for more than a decade in Pakistan, seeking to overthrow the government and install own brand of Isamic rule.
