Hundreds missing after passenger ship carrying 458 sinks in China's Yangtze River.



      A ship carrying more than 400 people and about 50 crew members has sank in the Yangtze River, Chinese State media CCTV reported. 15 survivors and five bodies had been recovered. Most of those on board were tourist aged between 50 and 80 travelling from the city of Nanfing to Chngqing. The ship does not appear to have been overcrowed. Acvording to Chinese State media, the Eastern Star was capable of carrying a maximum of 534 people, but 458 peoplee were onboard the ship when its sank. Images shown on CCTV News showed rescuers lying on the upturned ship attempting to communicate with potential survivors inside the ship. Report said that 6 inches of rain had fallen in the past  24 hours. The Chinese Xinhua News Agency quoted the captain and chief engineer as saying the ship sank quickly after being caught in a cyclone. One survivor, 43-year-old Zhang Hui, 43, described how he spent 10 hours in the water being unable to swim.
